Brand Park Photographer (Doctor's House, Whispering Pine Tea House)
Brand Park is a popular 31 acre green space located at the foot of the Verdugo Mountains and is known as a popular bride and groom portrait location for area wedding photographers. In addition to a variety of different facilities that are quite suitable for photography, the park also boasts the Whispering Pine Teahouse & Friendship Garden and the Doctors House Museum & Gazebo which are excellent venues for local wedding ceremonies. From a historical perspective, Brand Park's namesake was Leslie C. Brand who left his estate to the City of Glendale.
Built in 1974, the Whispering Pine Teahouse was made possible through the efforts of Glendale and her sister city, Higashi-Osaka, Japan. It's of the few traditional public teahouses in the nation and was designed by architect Hayahiko Takase. Additionally, the teahouse was recently renovated and declared a Landmark Building by the Glendale Historical Society. Couples who may be considering this location for wedding photography will be interested in the adjacent koi pond and Japanese-style garden setting.
As a wedding photographer interested in integrating history into my portrait sessions, I love photographing brides and grooms around The Doctor's House area. The Doctors House Museum is a restored home that was built around 1888 that reflects the Queen Anne-Eastlake style. Originally located at 921 East Wilson Avenue in Glendale, it was originally owned by four physicians who give the building its name today. The lawn and quaint gazebo are available for wedding ceremonies making it a favorite for Glendale wedding photographers.
