Yosemite Photograph Featured in Nikon Calendar

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

In June of 2007 I received an e-mail from Nikon asking if I would sell the rights to one of my Yosemite photographs (single use). The image in question was titled “Spring Flood” was a photograph that I had recently entered in the Nikon Photo Contest International. Naturally I was pretty stoked about this news. That being said, it’s been really hard to keep quiet about this news for all of these many months. When I finally received the calendar and read the back cover, I was pretty amazed at Nikon’s description:

All the photographs in this calendar are outstanding entries from the Nikon Photo Contest International 2006-2007 and were selected especially for the calendar.

Since 1969, the Nikon Photo Contest International has been held by Nikon Corporation to provide an opportunity for photographers around the world to communicate and to enrich photographic culture for professionals and amateurs alike. Renowned among photo enthusiasts worldwide, the contest has so far attracted more than 1,267,000 photographs from a total of 306,000 photographers.

This calendar is composed of thirteen photographs selected especially for the calendar from the Nikon Photo Contest International 2006-2007 which received as many as 47,000 entries from 135 countries and regions. Please enjoy photographs from around the world.

These calendars were published in Japan and released to Authorized Nikon Dealers worldwide. It’s a large calendar measuring 15″ x 17″ with excellent print quality. My photo appears in April. Here you’ll see that I’ve posted the original image along with a few photos of the calendar itself. Anyway, thanks for looking!

Los Angeles Product Photographer – Friedericy Dolls

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Tonight I had the pleasure of again photographing some product for Friedericy Dolls. Here are the photos from our session. As a Los Angeles product photographer, Friedericy Dolls remains my most long term and favorite client. My two favorite dolls from tonight’s product photography session are the tall Asian woman in the purple embroidered dress and the Cinderella scene. Both of those dolls are at least 20 inches high!

Los Angeles Wedding Photographer Party

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Last night we hosted a studio open house / party for forty-five(ish) of the hottest Los Angeles area wedding photographers (and also a few fine art photographers). We even had a few out of town guests including Jerry Ghionis (Australia) and David Beckstead (Texas). I set up a mini “photobooth” in the back part of our studio and here are just a few photos from that experiment. Much food, fun, and jumping was had by all. If you’d like to see more of the photobooth photos, please click here to visit the event photography gallery.
