The folks from Friedericy Dolls brought a few of their fine-art dolls by the studio today for a few product photography photos. This batch included Picasso, Degas, Dali, and Van Gogh. There were only ten (10) today, so here are all of them.
A few days ago I was in Phoenix, Arizona and I dropped by Clive Cussler’s home for a brief portrait session. Just in case you’re not familiar with Clive Cussler’s work, he’s a best selling author with over 39 novels to his credit. Over the years he’s also amassed an astounding collection of over 100 classic automobiles. If that sounds exciting to you, you might want to check out my photographs of the Cussler Museum in Arvada, Colorado.
On a final note, who would believe that Clive’s about to turn 78 in just a few short days! Hell, he looks better than I do at half his age! If I’m lucky, you might see the portrait below on the back of one of his upcoming novels. I took the other photograph on my way out the door (just for fun). What does it say to you?

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Kendra Munger again. It’s been several years since I’ve seen her, but I was happy to work at providing her a few new headshots. These were taken inside the open back door of my Los Angeles studio using natural light.
I photographed Cheryl last weekend. She was a real blast! She’s hoping to add some new headshots to her portfolio. Here are a few examples from our portrait session.
Kaye came by the studio last Sunday morning for a retro portrait session. I haven’t really had time to process all of the photos from her session but here are two quick picks.
One of Matt’s friends was over for a headshot session and since he was hanging out on the couch waiting for her to get changed, I gave him a chance to jump in front of my camera. I only took a couple snaps, but here’s my favorite.
April came by the studio last Sunday in the hopes of finally getting a headshot that she and her agent could use. Apparently that’s been a challenge in the past. To be honest, I don’t really see how anyone could have a hard time photographing April (she’s a Los Angeles resident). The camera really loved her. As her headshot photographer, I just needed to stand/sit there and press the shutter button on my camera.
In regards to this shoot, I wanted to mention that it was really great to get to know April a little bit on a more personal level. It turns out that she’s a huge Star Trek fan. She even worked on the last film! She did body doubling for the green girl (Starfleet Academy scenes) and because she was so knowledgeable about the Star Trek universe, she was hired as a technical consultant for the film. This came to pass after she mentioned to one of the artists that the illustration for one of the ice planet monsters looked awfully similar to a monster on STNG. She also told me a story about how after she was brought aboard, she was talking to the fight choreographer and suggested that he include a double-clasped fist blow (a la William Shatner) for one of Kirk’s fight scenes. Apparently the choreographer didn’t understand how cool that would have been for Star Trek fans so it didn’t make the cut. And did I mention that she has a Starfleet tattoo on the back of her neck? Ok, enough of that commentary. I’m a geek. I admit it. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
Reshma is certified personal trainer certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and she came by the studio last week for a few headshots and a few fitness photographs. She works out of a gym in Pasadena. I’ve done some fitness photography in the past so it was easy to knock out a few portraits for her portfolio.
These portraits are not the first photographs I’ve taken of Alex. The last time I photographed her was way back in August of 2005; she would have been nine years old back then. Now here she is with braces, about to start high school as a freshman, and still a great model. After I photographed her back in 2005, she went on to have a great pre-teen modeling career (with her mom’s support).
Alex’s braces come off in October and I suspect after that she’ll find a ton of work as a teen model. Then again, she also looks great with braces! Here are a few headshots and portraits from our session! I feel lucky to be her occasional portrait photographer. When she gets a bit older, I hope she picks me when she makes her selection from other Los Angeles senior portrait photographers!
