Magazine style wedding albums are often referred to synonymously as montage albums, coffee table wedding albums, flush mount albums, and storybook wedding albums. For the purposes of this discussion, I prefer to use the term "magazine style" in lieu of those other, equally accurate labels.

When talking about magazine style albums, I should first speak to the design. The layout and design of interior album pages is what sets a magazine style album apart from other album designs. Generally, photographs found within a magazine style album are presented in such a way as to lend an artistic flair to the album. This is done through the use of montage, a term originally used to describe a style of cinematic film. For photography and within wedding album design in particular, montage means placing several photographs across one or two pages in such a way as to more effectively tell the wedding story.
The way your wedding story is presented, and the aesthetic quality of your album, can vary greatly depending on the designer. Since I am the one photographing the wedding, I’m naturally going to be the one with the necessary insight to tell your story accurately, using the images that I created.
As for the layout, I prefer a modest but stylistic approach to my magazine album designs. This is primarily because I've seen countless examples of over designed albums that become dated soon after a wedding. Over designed albums often suffer from fancy borders and the overuse of artistic effects like feathered borders, excessive selective coloration, extreme use of color, overuse of text and fancy fonts, and busy photographic layouts. Since I believe wedding albums should remain timeless rather than focus on the latest fad or fancy, I work to design effective but creatively restrained wedding albums. In other words, my albums focus more on the photographs and the story rather than on showcasing the latest photographic manipulation technique. This is an extremely important differentiator for my album design work.
In a flush mount magazine style design, the pages feature photographs and artistic elements printed on both sides of each spread. Each side of this spread is referred to as a page--just like you have pages in a book. This presentation provides a look and feel akin to a magazine or coffee table book.
If you choose my magazine style album, I know you'll be thrilled with the final result. When I design an album, I know it's all about meeting the bride's needs--a fact most grooms will eventually come to understand.
