David Baker is a Boy Scout working toward becoming an Eagle Scout. David is a member of Troop 886 based in The Woodlands, Texas. Some of the patches you see on his Merit Badge Sash include Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the Community, First Aid, Lifesaving, Camping, and Family Life. He also has World Scout Jamboree Badge and Hiking Merit Badge. The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was incorporated in 1910 and for over a hundred years has been one of America’s largest and most prominent youth development organizations. The BSA is intended to provide programs that build character, train young men in the responsibilities of citizenship, and promote personal fitness. And through these programs, the BSA offers fun educational activities that provide a foundation for lifelong values. David believes in equality and therefore supported the movement to rescind the ban on homosexual youth in the BSA. In his free time, David is an avid skateboarder and lifeguard. In August 2013, David was recognized by Montgomery County Hospital District EMS for helping save the life of a drowning child at Shenandoah Public Pool near Houston, Texas. It was David’s second day on the job. David is my hero.
