When I began to write the caption for this cute collection of Star Wars and Star Trek cake pops featuring C-3 PO, R2-D2, Spock, and the Starfleet emblem, I became curious as to who invented the cake pop.
The inventor of the cake pop was Angie Dudley who is also answers to the name Bakerella. She invented them in 2008 and there were later featured in a book titled "Cake Pop" which unsurprisingly was featured on the New York Times bestseller list. In order to make a cake pop, cake crumbs are mixed with icing and then formed into small spheres or shapes, attached to lollipop sticks, and are then given a coating of icing or other decoration. These cake pops are interesting because they reflect both Aces love of Star Wars and Linda's love of Star Trek. Sadly, I never saw or tasted these cake pops as I was busy photographing other aspects of this wedding. But that's where an additional photographer comes into play. As you can see here, Vanessa did a great job of capturing these elements of the day in a fun and tasteful (pun intended) way.
