This wedding picture of a laughing wedding party is from the first wedding I photographed at Newhall Mansion in Piru, California.
One of the hardest things that I do as a wedding photographer, is that I have to create a personal connection between me and the wedding party if I hope to create natural photographs that feel perfectly candid. Now you might think that all I have to do is ask my subjects to smile and that these results are common given what you see of my portfolio, but it's no easy matter to get large groups to all look spontaneously happy consistently during the time set aside for portraits. In some occasions, I may have photographed the couple's engagement session and the wedding party will have seen those photographs and thus determine on their own that I am a trustworthy guy in that I will always create great images. However, for this wedding, I only met the bridegroom on the day of the wedding since they both lived in the San Francisco Bay area and we had only conversed via Skype and telephone. One thing that you might find noteworthy is you may notice the orange tree in the background. Or perhaps it was tangerines. The create Newhall Mansion is known for having once been the central part of a large working orchard and so these trees help speak to its long history of providing fruits to California citizens both in Piru and the rest of the state.
