Surprise Wedding Silhouette

This was not your typical New Year's Eve wedding. It was a surprise and it was held in the couple's living room.

This was a surprise wedding. The guests at this event were told that they were invited to a New Year's Eve party. But they weren't told about the wedding.

The bride and groom didn't want to make a big deal about their wedding. To that end, a few hours after their party began, they entered the room and their wedding attire and told everyone a wedding was happening. The groom's father married them on the spot.

The wedding party, made up of bridesmaids and groomsmen, were called up individually by the bride and groom. Many of them jokingly cursed them because they had worn casual attire and had no idea that they would be involved in a wedding ceremony.

After the ceremony, the bride, groom and guests were shuttled from the event location to a nearby area where floats were parked all night prior to the New Year's day parade.

Even though this photograph was taken at almost 1:00 a.m., there were several hundred people walking around viewing the floats. The floats are lit with huge lighting trucks that have lights as bright as the sun.

As the streets were blocked off from all traffic, I asked the couple to step into the center of the street, gave the groom some brief instructions on how to dip his new wife, and then photographed them in silhouette using elimination from the lighting trucks.
