This photograph represents the last time that I created an image featuring the pose that I like to call "The Lift." When I was with this couple at the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, I had the groom lift the bride into the air by providing very specific instructions. This is certainly a fun photograph for the couple and it's a very "salable" image, but I realized that it poses (no pun intended) several challenges. First of all, this is not a natural position for many couples. Although grooms are typically comfortable performing this move, many brides need extensive coaching in order for them to appear natural in the photograph. Even in this case, there are several things that I would've liked to see the bride to in order to make this image more compelling including turning her body toward the camera, bringing back her left shoulder, relaxing her left shoulder, bending her left elbow, and bringing her right foot up a bit to move it away from the body of the groom. But other than that, this image is pretty great (insert sheepish grin here). In any event, I have retired this particular pose for my repertoire — at least for the foreseeable future. Of course if you're my client, and you request this pose, it's all about you and your needs and so I will make it happen for you.
