Los Angeles Arboretum Engagement Session – Courtney + Scott

Last Sunday I met Courtney and Scott at the Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia for their engagement session. It was a really beautiful morning and we got started early enough that it wasn’t crazy hot like it’s been for the last few weeks. During one part of our session, a squirrel seemed to be really interested in Courtney and Scott’s apparent need to make out on a garden path (see the last photo below). I was hoping he would stick around, but since we didn’t have any food for him, he ran off to play with his friends. Next time I’ll be better prepared! Courtney and Scott get married in August so check back soon for my work as their wedding photographer. Here are just a few photos from last Sunday.

Santa Monica Pier Portraits – Denise + Steve

I met Denise and Steve this morning in Santa Monica (near the pier) for their engagement session. We had a great time walking around, seeing the sites, and dodging the indigent. And of course I took a few photographs in the process. Here are a few of my favorite portraits.

Los Angeles Arboretum Engagement Session – Leslie + Jason

Earlier this week I met Leslie and Jason for their pre-wedding engagement session at the Los Angeles Arboretum. Leslie is one of those “happy brides” who is super easy to photograph–she’s smiling all the time. According to Leslie, Jason also had a great time, but it was sure hard to make that man smile! Their wedding is only a few weeks away, so check back soon for more photos. I’m really looking forwarding to working as their wedding photographer!

I met Vicky and Mike for their engagement session this last Sunday. Let me start by saying that it was really cold (well, cold for Los Angeles). Vicky was really excited about the session and I think it shows in the photos! Here are a few of my favorites from their session.

Anna + Michael – Engagement Session

Anna and Michael stopped by my studio to pick me up for their downtown Los Angeles engagement session. I’ve never been chauffeured during an engagement session so that was pretty cool! They wanted an urban engagement session so they chose Chinatown. Although I’ve photographed Chinatown several times as an urban landscape, I’d never photographed “people” in that area. We started late Sunday afternoon and we found the place almost deserted with tons of great backdrops. As the sun began to set, we decided to take a short drive over the Walt Disney Concert Hall for a few minutes of sunset shooting. Since I’ve photographed couples there many times before, it was easy for me to bring Anna and Michael to the best spots before sunset. Pam + Larry – Santa Monica Pier and Beach Engagement

I met Pam and Larry early Sunday morning for their engagement session in and around the pier in Santa Monica. Although the marine layer was in full effect, I really liked how the conditions complemented what they were wearing. Even though Pam and Larry are both crazy tall (Pam is maybe an inch taller than me), they were easy to photograph and we had a great time exploring several different areas around the pier. As you’ll see below, I had to include one of the photos I captured of the totally random guy hanging out searching for misplaced jewelry! Elizabeth + Leo – Old Town Pasadena Engagement Session

Elizabeth & Leo’s wedding is coming up in just a few weeks, so we decided on a session in Old Town Pasadena–which is just a few blocks from their home. I just wanted to mention here that Leo works for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) so this makes for my 2nd "rocket scientist" client! Here are a few favorites from the session.

Hannah + Max – Los Angeles Arboretum

I photographed Hannah and Max for their engagement session at the Los Angeles Arboretum. This was their first visit to the gardens, but unfortunately the peacocks had recently had their plumage removed so I couldn’t find any that would look nice in their photos. You’ll notice that there’s a bouquet in a few of the photos. That arrangement was created by Hannah’s brother who is also doing the flowers for their wedding. And to think that he’s not even a professional florist! Here are a few of my favorites from their session.
