Houston Studio: Arts District
My Houston photo studio is in The Silos at Sawyer Yards in the Washington Avenue Arts District.
Located just three minutes from Houston’s downtown business district, The Silos at Sawyer Yards is a creative community housed in a former grain silo facility where 97 photographers, artists, and creatives work daily.
My first-floor studio address is:
1502 Sawyer St #228
Houston, TX 77007
Parking
Plentiful free parking is always available. Park in the west front lot immediately adjacent Sawyer Street.
If the front lot is full, additional parking is available along the building's north side. There's also more parking behind the building but finding my studio via the back entrances can be confusing. You can also find overflow parking at 2101 Winter Street.
Interior Directions
Enter the building through the front door on the west side of the building only. Other doors are typically locked. For weekend or evening appointments, call if the front entry door is locked.
- Enter through the middle orange door on the west side of the building. Above that orange door is a large Studio Entrances sign mounted under the overhang.
- After entering the door, proceed straight for 80'
- Turn right and walk 12' to the hallway intersection.
- Turn left and then proceed 94' to the next hallway intersection.
- Turn right and walk 16' to the next hallway intersection.
- Turn left and then walk 41' where you'll find my studio door (#228) on your left.
- Come inside.
Interior Map
Here's a location map. The orange arrows on this map indicate how to find my photography studio.
Interior Details
My photo studio is perfect for most product photography, individual headshots, and editorial portraits. It measures 18.5' x 23.5' (435 square feet) and boasts 24' ceilings plus a large skylight.
The studio is climate-controlled, professional, organized, secure, private, wheelchair-accessible and offers shared bathroom access.
If your project requires a larger studio or amenities I can't provide at my downtown studio, I'm also available for on-site work at your location or at a rented studio.
Exterior Details
For outdoor portraits, the building exterior and nearby areas provide an artsy urban-esque background with several small green areas. There are also several murals.
For most photos, I'll use a shallow depth of field and that means blurry backgrounds that fade away behind you, so location won't play too much into your outdoor photos here.
