Corporate portraits are often present in a company’s crucial client-facing marketing materials. These photographs highlight the “people side” of your business.

I create these portrait photographs either in my studio or at your preferred location. They’re perfect for annual reports, marketing materials, press releases, and your website.

Environmental Portraits

Environmental portraits are photographs of individuals and families using natural light or studio lighting. I work near my studio, on location, and at your home or business for these photographs.

Natural light, also called available light, often works well for outdoor locations, and I sometimes use window light for indoor locations. When available light isn’t available, I make my own with my impressive collection of the best studio lighting gear.

When we meet for the first time on the day of your session, we’ll discuss what you’d like to accomplish. For larger portrait photography projects, we’ll create a project plan through email and phone calls, Zoom meetings, or Microsoft Teams meetings. Through our conversations, I’ll better understand your goals and aesthetic preferences.

Before we start, I’ll take an inventory of your or your subject’s physical characteristics and discuss factors that might concern you in your photographs. I’ll find out what you need and translate those requirements into photographs featuring my unique photographic style.

Studio Portraits

Studio portraits are photographs of individuals and families, typically taken at my downtown Houston studio or on location using studio light sources.

Using artificial light helps me manipulate shadows and highlights and create my signature look for your photography. Most of my studio lighting setups include two key lights, two back lights, and a background light.

My lighting setups are unusual because few photographers own the lighting gear necessary to support that configuration. The type of light source I’ll use for your portrait photography project varies based on your needs and requests.

When developing your portrait photography plan, we’ll gain a firm understanding of your session goals—whether you’re looking for a contemporary portrait, business portrait, personal branding portrait, or promotional photo.

As part of this process, I’ll carefully inventory you or your subject’s physical characteristics and discuss the factors of greatest concern in your photographs. I’ll also present ideas you’ve not considered. For example, the photo above was featured in Lawn & Landscape magazine. The editor Chuck Bowen called and asked me to photograph a landscaping company mowing a subdivision’s communal area and also create a few supervisor portraits. I suggested that instead of ordinary, we should try extraordinary. Also creating portraits of the employees who do the work, with an artistic nod to Richard Avedon’s portraits, would make for a compelling image and make this story unique. The editor agreed, and the rest is history.

Family Portraits

One of my superpowers is making families feel comfortable in front of my camera, even those dads who hate family photo day. In part, I do this initially through casual conversation and later through positive feedback alongside simple posing directions everyone can follow.

Senior Portraits & Graduation Photographer

My senior portrait photography, also known as graduation portraits, features high school and college seniors celebrating the end of their long journey. I’d like to be your Houston graduation photographer.

ZED & Comp Cards

A ZED or comp card is a promotional card used by models or actors. A typical design often includes one side that displays the model’s best headshot, name, and phone number, while the reverse side shows a few more photos in unique styles, along with measurements and professional experience.

Although the term “ZED card” is commonly used interchangeably with the term “comp card,” they’re not the same. An authentic ZED card is like a comp card but is usually shorter and folded into three sections. When viewed from above, partially opened, it looks like the letter “Z.”

The ZED card name originated because the letter “Z” is pronounced as “zed” in England, where the card first appeared.
