Troy Manning, Boba Fett

Troy Manning appears in this photograph as Boba Fett. There are several variants of this armored costume but this one is called the Special Edition Boba Fett. Most commonly seen in still photographs and promotional material related to Star Wars, this Boba Fett version is slightly different from the costume configurations in Star Wars, Episode V: Empire Strikes Back, and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Some of the differences are seen in the ammo belt, the hose configuration, and overall paint scheme. Boba Fett was a bounty hunter and clone of the famed Jango Fett. He was raised as Jango's son who trained him to become a skilled bounty hunter, just as Jango Fett was an exceptional bounty hunter. When Troy was growing up, he wanted to be friends with Tony Haw, be in a rock bank, and be Darth Vader—not necessarily in that order. In real life Troy is involved in pro audio sales focusing on post-production and studio recording equipment. Some of his hobbies include parenting his daughter Ava, doting on his wife Gillian, photography, snowboarding, playing keyboard and guitar, and prop building. His beginnings in the world of costuming are founded on his "bucket list" wish to be a stormtrooper for Halloween. When his wife was pregnant with his daughter, Troy realized that his life priorities were changing and that he’d need to be at home more. That led Troy (BH-77847) to the 501st Legion—an organization of Star Wars costume enthusiasts who contribute to local communities through charity and volunteer work. On some days the 501st might visit sick children and brighten their day while other events might include an appearance for a large corporation that is making a charity donation on the behalf of the 501st. Troy never tires of seeing the positive reactions from people who see him in costume. He still finds it amazing to see how a bit of plastic and paint can do so much good and bring so much excitement to complete strangers. He feels that when he puts on his helmet, he becomes part of a much larger world. His long-term goal in life is to raise his daughter and introduce her to the world in the best possible way. And of course his prop building continues. He is currently working on Daft Punk helmets, an Emperor Palpatine costume, and a Snowtrooper for this winter. And when he’s trooping with the 501st, he tries to keep a a safe distance from any and all sarlaac pits.
