Houston Funeral Photographer

I offer you and your family my sincere condolences at this difficult time.

I provide sensitive, respectful, and private funeral photography services. My candid, discrete, and compassionate coverage documents your memories. Please think of me as your family historian.

Should You Hire A Funeral Photographer

If you're wondering if you should hire a funeral photographer, you're not alone. There is no right or wrong answer. Your deeply personal decision is difficult during this sorrowful and stressful time.

If you choose me, I'll honor your beloved's life through my work. More importantly, I'll document the memories you wish you could forget–but that you don't want to forget.

Just as funerals can offer healing, my photographs of immediate and extended family, childhood friends, school friends, work friends, community connections, and neighbors coming together can help heal your heartache through remembrance.

When I'm photographing your unfair reality, I'm going to record memories for you and for the others left behind. And these photos will wait for you. They'll be there when you want them—even if you're not ready for them today.

Amid your grief, this visual record is important because it's difficult to remember or comprehend all that surrounds us during these stressful events. My funeral photography will provide you with tangible memories uncolored by time.

"Thank you Rob! You captured the funeral beautifully." - Kathy Tran

My funeral photography pricing starts at $600 for two hours of coverage—even when family portrait photography is requested.

My funeral photography deliverables include everything listed on my event photography pricing page.

Photography Standards

As your funeral photographer, I'll create tasteful photographs with a somber reverence and focus on offering comfort and solace for you and the people you love. With my candid approach, I'll avoid awkward distractions. Dignity and consideration are my bywords.

I understand that this is one of your most difficult days. With that in mind, I've developed strict standards for funeral photography helping ensure positive outcomes.

  • I'll never share your photographs publicly or privately. That means that you and other mourners are assured absolute privacy. Your privacy is guaranteed.
  • All immediate family members inclusive of grandparents, parents, adult children, siblings, and spouses must be informed of my hiring prior to the funeral or event and must agree to my presence.
  • I'll ask what photos you think might be most important and least important. Alternatively, you can leave those decisions to my best judgement.
  • I won't interact with you or your guests unless directly addressed or otherwise instructed.
  • If a mourner or family member appears uncomfortable being photographed or asks not to be photographed, I'll avoid photographing that person.
  • If a mourner asks to be photographed at the church, synagogue, or graveside, I'll defer that request until an appropriate time. However, all immediate family member requests are immediately honored.
  • I'll coordinate with the officiant, priest, or rabbi prior to the funeral ceremony and follow all church or synagogue policies.
  • To remain unobtrusive, I'll use a long-range telephoto lens whenever possible.
  • My camera shutter will be set to quiet mode reducing audible distractions.
  • I won't use flash photography in churches, synagogues, or at the gravesite.
  • I'll dress professionally in black slacks, black collared button-down shirt, black tie, and black vest. I'll also wear a black jacket when seasonally appropriate.

Church or Synagogue

When I'm photographing a synagogue or church funeral, I focus on the sermon, eulogy, mourners, religious details, and the funeral procession.

For services performed graveside, in addition to immediate family photography, I'll also photograph the hearse and family limousines, the procession from hearse to gravesite, pallbearers, priests or leaders of ceremony, family members saying goodbye, mourners paying their respects, lowering of the coffin, laying of stones, and flower arrangements. I'll also document the family plot and photograph the cemetery both broadly and in detail.

Military Funerals

As an honorably discharged combat veteran and son of a retired combat veteran, I photograph military funerals with a special regard.

My understanding of military funeral traditions like flag folding, flag presentations, honor guards, rendering honors, buglers sounding taps, and gun salutes runs deep. And that experience is reflected in my work as a military funeral photographer.

Celebration of Life

Whether you're holding a celebration of life event in lieu of a funeral or memorial service or you're planning the event in addition to those remembrances, I'll document the sorrow, the laughter, and the storytelling celebrating and memorializing the deceased.

Although I'm not often hired to photograph wakes, I'm certainly available if you'd prefer coverage before the funeral.

Family Photos

Entire families come together rarely. After funeral services are complete and your family meets to celebrate the life of your beloved, I can provide you and your family with both candid coverage and posed family portrait photography—comprising both small family groupings and your entire family.

These planned family photos can be scheduled at a designated time during the funeral reception.
