Brides Holding Hands: Gay Wedding

This gay wedding at a local country club was hosted by this lovely couple.

For the bride on the left, this was her father's golf course and they had a house located nearby. The clubhouse boasted large bay windows looking out on the course. For window photos like these, I have four options. I can ask couples to stand:

  1. near the window with the window out of frame and use the window light for illumination only.
  2. in front of the window, expose for the outdoors, and show the couple in silhouette.
  3. in front of the window, expose for the outdoors, and light the couple with off-camera lighting
  4. in front of the window, expose for the couple, and overexpose the outdoors

I chose the latter and it seems to work well here. My lighting decision enhances the mystery of this image.

I'd like to think that viewers see the lesbian couple looking off into the distance together into an unknown but likely wonderful future together.

I love how the light wraps around the two brides and in particular how the light falls across the back of the bride on the left.

From a wedding details perspective I also enjoy the fact that every object in this image is white, and yet you can make out every detail on the dress of both brides.
