Panoramic Bride & Groom Portrait

Not every photograph should be presented in 2:3 ratio. Panoramic photos like this one add interest and hide issues.

I'll deliver every wedding photo captured in 2:3 ratio because that's the ratio used by my cameras (and most modern digital cameras). However, when I'm editing wedding portfolio or wedding album images, I'll crop those images to whichever aspect ratio works best for that image.

Sometimes 16:9 works best while in other cases 1:1 (or square) works best. And sometimes a non-standard aspect ratio works best.

When I'm choosing how to crop an image, I think about whether an image area adds or subtracts to the photo's story or impact. If it doesn't add to the scene, then photos can often be improved by removing that information.
