This portrait of a groom was captured in the master bedroom of the Villa Del Leon mansion located in Pacific Palisades, California.
For me, wedding photography is about telling stories. And, in an ideal world, every photograph stands alone, but it tells a story that is a vignette of a yet larger story. In this image the groom is finishing preparations prior to seeing his bride for the first time. As a last step of that process, he is adjusting his tie. Although the background of this image is relatively cluttered with the fine art painting, the lamp, and the intricate wall sconce, the groom finds a space for himself and those items and stand separate. The warm tones in the background of this image complement the cooler tones of the groom's jacket. For this image, I also enjoy the way the color of the groom's jacket complements the color seen in the curtains to the right of the groom. He is lit softly by the window light streaming in from the left which picks up the fine textures in his jacket which was custom-made just for this event.
