The Wayfarers Chapel is an interesting location to have a wedding in the Los Angeles area. It is one of the great landmarks in Rancho Palos Verdes and can often host four or more weddings on a single day. Couples who book this location are given two hours during which they can exchange vows and take photographs on the property. As you can imagine, this means that we have to move quite quickly in order to create truly amazing images. For this sunset photo, we had actually move beyond the two hours allotted to us, but we were fortunate in that a wedding did not follow this one. As the sun began to set and the sky darkened, the beautiful colors began to appear and I decided that the best way to maximize the landscape and the color was to show the bride and groom in silhouettes. In the far distance, you can see Catalina Island behind them floating in the midst of the Pacific ocean. I particularly enjoy how the overreaching pine trees as well as the low groundcover serves to frame the couple in the scene. Wayfarers Chapel is located in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
