This photograph of one of the upstairs rooms at Los Angeles Huron Substation shows the mother of the bride assisting her daughter with her wedding dress. As is often the case, I'll ask brides to get dressed near a window so that I can use the beautiful natural light to best effect. In this wedding photograph, I've elected to ask the bride to turn her body away from the window while turning her face toward the window. This pose is particularly complementary to the bride. If I had elected to have the bride turn toward the window instead, then I wouldn't be doing my best work as an experienced wedding photographer. By turning her away from the window instead of toward it, the bright area that runs along the bride's left side appears as just a sliver light. If I had the bride turned toward the window, the bright area would have been wider and that would have been less complementary to the bride's figure. The mother of the bride was also carefully positioned so that she would not obstruct a view of the dress. Huron Substation is located in Los Angeles, California. Phone: (323) 225-8909.
