This portrait of a bride and groom spending a celebratory moment together before their wedding at Ambassador Mansions and Gardens in Pasadena represents one of my most creative photographs from this event.
Within the garden area, there is a huge rectangular fountain that is at least 125 feet long. I positioned the bride and groom at one end and then ran all the way to the other side of fountain and photographed them through the water droplets coming from the fountain. Since the fountain water spray wasn't perfectly continuous, I took many photos trying to find the moment when the droplets were clear of the bride and groom's faces. My only regret for this image is that the sun was incredibly harsh to the left of the couple and thus the back edge of the bride's dress is overexposed. Although that issue could be corrected by spending some time doing some practical retouching in Adobe Photoshop, I felt that the image was strong enough on its own to not warrant the extraordinary measures necessary in order to recover those dress details. The venue manager really loved this photograph and a framed version of this print now hangs in their mansion.
